Short-term programs

St. Petersburg universities and colleges offer an extensive choice of educational services for foreign students. In addition to classic degree courses leading to a Bachelor’s, Chartered Specialist’s or Master’s diploma, they offer a variety of short-term study courses, which cover many different subjects and are available to everyone at any time during the academic year.

Some of the more popular short-term courses offered by
St. Petersburg higher education institutions are:

1. Foundation courses
2. Summer schools
3. Inclusive courses
4. Research internships

1. Foundation courses involve intensive Russian plus a whole range of additional subjects that foreign students typically need in order to progress to a Bachelor’s, Chartered Specialist’s or Master’s degree course in
St. Petersburg. Every student having successfully completed a foundation course receives a standard national certificate entitling them to enroll in any Russian university or college without admission tests.

2. Summer schools typically take 1 to 2 months, covering many different subjects. Some of the most popular courses are in Russian Language or Culture, Business, Economics and a few other broad fields.

3. Inclusive courses typically focus on the Russian Language and Culture, Business, Economics, or other subjects, and take from one week to one semester at a
St. Petersburg
university or college. These courses are usually taught by agreement with another educational institution on partnership in certain study fields or subjects.

4. Research internships. Many
St. Petersburg universities and colleges offer research internships, which can take between 1 and 12 months. Research internships are available in many different fields.
